We removed locking unlocking mechanism of Ablescopes in 2019 due to large percentage of customers damaged the bending part, the reason is that they have no idea there is the unlocking locking mechanism. This unlocking/locking feature is not obvious to many people, and they do not know what to do when the probe is curved and locked in position.
At the same time, the built-in locking unlocking mechanism is a very useful feature for many end users. So is there a better way to control bending angles without the built-in locking/unlocking mechanism? We come up a simple add on device. You can make it yourself with a few dollars and a visit to a home improvement store (such as Home Depot or Lowes).

Two pieces hardwares: one hose clamp No. 20 (21-44mm); one 3/4" pipe clamp. |
Another simple locking tool is a caulk gun, like the one shown below:
The caulk gun is a little bit bulky. However it works well with Vividia Ablescope VA-400 and other models.
