1. What is a pipe inspection camera?
Pipe inspection cameras are used to inspect pipes for plumbing, swimming pools, etc. Many issues can occur in wall and underground pipe systems. Pipe cameras take a lot of the guesswork out of what needs to be repaired to make these systems operate smoothly.
2. Why you need a sewer inspection camera
A pipe inspection camera allows one to inspect plumbing pipes, pools, and other enclosures and is a valuable tool for plumbers, home inspectors, pool, and HVAC repair professionals. A pipe camera allows users to gauge the health of their pipes, ducts, etc. while looking out for potential or existing problems. Several problems can attribute to a blocked pipe. Tree, bush, and hedge roots are big culprit along with other blockages that are flushed into the system. Over time, this can cause a major problem for your home plumbing. Blockages, and leaking connecters are all easily spotted with a sewer inspection camera.
Although sewer pipe camera inspection systems are used more often in plumbing or pool issues, they can also be used in many external applications for water reclamation, aerospace, and some industrial applications. Here are some benefits of using this handy tool:
*Perfect for plumbers and home inspectors to diagnose any issues prior to taking the next step to ensuring a clear plumbing system without having to use old conventional methods such as digging, etc. The camera can quickly diagnose a problem, therefore saving time, money, and labor for projects and problem solving.
*Swimming pools have clogs and blockages especially in the filtration system. A pipe camera can diagnose and give direction to what steps need to be followed next.
3. Components of a pipe inspection camera
The Pipe Camera diameter links are either 24 or 14mm (include inches) in diameter. Most sewer pipes work well with the 24mm prove which provides a high-definition photos and bright lighting. The 14mm probe is ideal for smaller enclosures such as pool systems and other unique applications.
Some cameras offer several size cables allowing the user to expand their range of inspection capacity.
Pipe Inspection Cameras, due to the harsh environments and sharp bends in pipes they are exposed to, have a high risk of damage. The good news is that many of the parts on these cameras are interchangeable, and replacement parts are readily available.
4. Different types of pipe inspection cameras
- Pan and Tilt with computer screen or detachable monitor
- Compact Built in screen or monitor
Some also feature self-leveling which keeps the camera in a steady orientation regardless of how it is twisted or turned over through the pipes during the inspection.
5. How to use a pipe inspection camera
Use the push rod to carefully guide through the pipe or enclosure. Use the monitor to view the camera and determine issues. Take advantage of the features of your specific camera to make the best possible analysis of the problem. Most all pipe cameras can take photos and videos of your inspection to provide a visual diagnosis for your customer. Watch our product videos for features and instructions on using our pipe cameras.
6. What if your camera is not working and fully optimal? You may have some issues with individual components where only a partial replacement is necessary without having to replace the entire camera. When encountering a problem, call our team to troubleshoot the issue. We can help determine if the problem can be easily solved or if there is a deeper issue that we need to explore.
7. Troubleshooting
A blank or intermittent image may suggest that the cable has been damaged or the camera tip. Check the cable for kinks or breaks. Inspect the camera lens for any visible damage. Make sure all connections are tight and secure. Restart the monitor to see if your camera just needed a re-start. If the damage is not apparent, please call us for further instruction on troubleshooting or suggested repairs/replacements.

Camera head Features:
Regular standard camera
Self-leveling camera head: Defaults to balanced orientation regardless of the position of the probe in the enclosure.
Built-in transmitter camera head: Sonde
Camera head with both self-leveling and built-in transmitter. This helps balance out any directional problems during the test and allows you to locate your camera in a pipe underground, etc.

Know Your Tool
The pipe inspection system includes the following four main parts: Camera head, Cable reel, Frame and Toolbox (including DVR, control device, battery, keyboard).
The camera head includes high-light white LEDs and a highly scratch-resistant lens cover; this coupled with stainless steel housing allow the camera to withstand repeated hits in various pipes.
Flexible stainless-steel spring and associated components make the camera head possible to go through bends in pipes. The battery pack provides power supply for the system and the DVR monitor can record video and take photos .
