What is a Thermal Camera?

Thermal cameras, also called thermal imagers, are cameras with thermal sensors that detect heat patterns rather than visible light. When selecting a thermal imaging camera, two of the most important factors to consider are resolution and temperature range. Resolution determines the clarity and detail of the thermal image, with higher resolution producing sharper and more accurate results. A minimum of 60×60 pixels is required to obtain an acceptable image. For example, the T02 provides 60×60 resolution, the HT04D offers 160×120, the T8 is 220×160, the T29 is 256×192, the T39 is 382×288, and the T49 delivers 640×480 resolution. The temperature range of the camera is also critical, as it defines the span of heat levels the device can accurately measure for inspection and diagnostics.
